My brother and I set about to write this blog just three months ago. We would share the duties and every week one of us would post on this site so that all I would need to come up with was about two posts a month. Just three months in I am already having issues keeping up with our bi-monthly commitment. Our lives are busy. There is baseball, hockey, ballet, tumbling, girl scouts, cub scouts, jump rope, violas, soccer and, of course, work. And that is where the time goes. Where does nature fit into my daily life?
A few days ago I sat down to write for our blog but I immediately hit a roadblock. I could not think of a time in the past two weeks that I had interacted with nature and especially not with my children and nature. On some level, yes, I had brief forays in the natural world. I am always looking for birds (still trying to catch Ryan) but that was done alone, in my kitchen window, in my car or on my short walk to work. For the most part, my interactions with nature had been minimal. My daughter and I made a couple of suet cakes for the feeder in our yard and enjoyed watching the birds enjoy the buffet but really that was it. At times, my life does not allow me to stop and enjoy the outdoors.
However, spring is right around the corner. More daylight, warmer weather and hopefully more time out in nature are in store for my family and I.
